Early evening

At the end of the day, when it's too early for an aperitif but too late for a snack, head for the glacier. The oldest ice-cream parlours on St-Denis are LGM (Le Glacier Moderne) and l'Igloo. These veritable institutions have seen several generations of sorbet and ice cream lovers pass through their doors. New brands are enriching and renewing the range, including Amorino, l'Artisan Glacier and Öguava. Majik Glaces has a special place in our hearts for its unusual flavours. The mango and chilli ice cream is a success. And don't forget the edible lemon straw if you opt for a milkshake, as the tangy taste goes perfectly with this flavour!

Another neighbourhood, another atmosphere, in Bas de la Rivière, where "early evening" rhymes with "a wild game of dominoes". Taking advantage of the mild weather, a group of men settle down every late afternoon near the Passerelle de la Fraternité. The dominoes clatter on the table and the concentration is intense. You'll find the same passion on the Chaudron market, with other equally loyal players.

Back in our century, afterwork parties are all the rage. Several of the town's bars offer these convivial moments, during which cold drinks flow freely. Visit Le Mahé, near the Square Labourdonnais, or Bière Au Logis, the beer bar with 400 different beers!

For a more original experience, try an escape game at Get Out. Whoever loses buys the aperitif!
